What's new
Every HumDocs update, newest first: what's new, what got better and what got fixed. Chrome installs updates by itself, usually within a day of one coming out.
Version 2.3.4
Released October 6, 2026
Better
- A cleaner scheduled card in your Doc: the time, two buttons, and Cancel as a small × beside “Scheduled”. Pro
- Clearer about Chrome: you can close the Doc’s tab after scheduling, but Chrome needs to stay open, and the card and Type later now say so. Pro
Fixed
- Scheduling after midnight works. At 1 AM, “Tomorrow morning” was refused with “That time has just passed”. After midnight the menu now offers “This morning”, and any time up to the end of tomorrow is accepted. Pro
Version 2.3.3
Released October 6, 2026
New
- Free runs have no length limit. Every run, any length, on the free plan. Pro is the features: Type later, breaks, the reference card, file import and saved styles.
- Type later from the arrow beside Start typing: in an hour, tonight, tomorrow morning, or a time you pick. Pro
- Close the Doc after scheduling. At that time HumDocs opens it in the background and types. Pro
- Move the cards in your Doc. Drag the reference card or the timer to another place and it snaps there. HumDocs remembers where you put them.
Better
- Recommended shows its real time, even when a text needs more than one run's 3 hours, instead of quietly showing 3:00:00.
- Quick pace: a small gauge beside the finish time when the time you set is fast for the text.
- Fewer messages. No confirmation boxes for things you can already see, like a time you just scheduled.
- Change time on the card in your Doc, Clear history and the license links are proper buttons.
Fixed
- HumDocs stays on when it updates. Notifications are asked for the first time you schedule a run, instead of with the update, so Chrome no longer turns HumDocs off until you approve them.
Version 2.3.1
Released October 3, 2026
Better
- The reference card scrolls smoothly, like a teleprompter: the line being typed stays in the same place and the text drifts up as it types. Pro
- Opening HumDocs while it types shows the run's progress, Pause and Stop straight away, with nothing to scroll.
- The popup fades away after you press Start, instead of vanishing all at once.
Version 2.3.0
Released October 3, 2026
The biggest update so far. HumDocs now works in Google Slides, can type for you later or by a deadline, and has a free plan with no limit on runs.
New
- Google Slides. Click into a text box on a slide and HumDocs types into it, just like a Doc.
- Type later. Pick a Doc and a time and it starts by itself. Or set it to start right after another Doc finishes. Pro
- Deadline plans. Give it a long document and a due date, and it types a little each day so it's finished in time. If the computer was off for a session, it catches up by itself. Pro
- Change a scheduled run after you set it: a new time, or a different text. Pro
- Carries on after a reload. If the Doc reloads mid-run, a card shows how far it got, with one Continue button.
- Keeps typing in the background. Switch to another tab and it carries on.
- A free plan for everyone: as many runs as you like, each up to 10,000 characters (about 1,700 words), with every style and control. Pro removes the length limit and adds Type later, deadlines, breaks, file import, the reference card and saved styles. You can try Pro free for 3 days.
- Break lengths on two wheels, minutes and seconds, like the timer in a phone's clock app.
- Notifications when a scheduled run finishes, or couldn't start.
- Keeps the computer awake while a run is typing, and only then.
- Shortcuts: Alt+Shift+H opens HumDocs and Alt+Shift+P pauses or resumes, from any tab.
Better
- Recommended time depends on length. Short pieces type at about 40 words a minute. Essays slow to a real writing pace (about 27 words a minute at 500 words), so the Doc's version history looks like someone actually writing it.
- Quicker, steadier typing. The letters come at an everyday typing speed, and the thinking time goes into pauses between sentences and paragraphs instead.
- No long waits at line breaks.
- Rewrites read like a person changing their mind, not the same phrase typed twice.
- You can use the Doc while it types. Click somewhere else and the cursor goes back to where HumDocs was.
- Calmer cards in the Doc: a smaller timer, and an end-of-run card that shows the time it took in green.
- A cleaner popup, with a bigger text box and your recent texts in History.
Fixed
- The timer now stays in step with the typing, even after clicks in the Doc, pauses and breaks.
- A long run still ends on time after you pause it.
- A break you ask for during a long pause starts straight away.
- The break length wheels no longer race when you scroll or drag them.
- If Google Docs goes offline for a moment, typing waits for it instead of losing letters.
- A Doc waiting for its scheduled time stays loaded when Chrome's Memory Saver is on.
- Emoji are typed whole, and text in other alphabets types correctly.
Version 2.2.1
Released September 11, 2026
Five months of work since the first version, all of it free.
New
- Typos that look real. Misspellings on hard words, slips of the finger on easy ones, each one noticed and fixed.
- Rewrites. Now and then it starts a phrase one way, goes back and changes it.
- Speed that drifts up and down like a person's, instead of sitting flat.
- Breaks of 2, 5, 10 or 15 minutes in the middle of a run, with Pause, add time and End early.
- Reference card: your text beside the page, scrolling along as it types.
- Import a file instead of pasting: .txt and .docx.
- A summary at the end of each run: time, typos and speed.
Fixed
- Typing at the Minimum time no longer gets stuck at one flat speed.
- A stall is never made up for with a burst of impossibly fast typing.
Version 2.0.0
